UC Irvine – Hitachi Chemical Research Center

Design and construction management services for the 41,200 SF, three-story biomedical research facility with biohazard rooms. 

This was the first venture between a Japanese private company and an American public university.  The two research groups (private and public) operate separately but do share a common lecture hall and medical library. 

Hitachi Chemical Research Center Plumwood House is devoted to basic research in the fields of neurological disorders, diagnostic systems and reagents, and industrial bioreactors. In this facility, faculty from the Department of Biological Chemistry share laboratory space with corporate researchers.
